Jiu Jitsu Fort Lauderdale Shines at the World Championship

This past weekend, the largest Jiu Jitsu event on the planet, the 2024 IBJJF World Championship, took place from June 1st to June 4th at the iconic Pyramid in Long Beach, California. Known as the most prestigious event in the gentle art, the championship featured some of the best grapplers from around the globe. We at Athlas Training Team, based in Fort Lauderdale, are thrilled to share our experiences and achievements from this illustrious event.

Athlas Training Team

Our team was represented by six formidable competitors who brought their best to the mats, demonstrating the skill and spirit of Jiu Jitsu Fort Lauderdale. Their hard work paid off splendidly, as they returned home with four medals, adding to the pride of our community.

Among our standout athletes was Ana Luiza, who secured a second-place finish in her division. Her performance was nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the dedication and technique that Athlas Training Team instills in its members.

Ana Luiza Fernandes has been practicing Jiu-Jitsu since she was 5 years old. Today, she teaches Jiu-Jitsu classes at Athlas Training  Team for children starting from 3 years old, and also offers private lessons for children who want to excel in the sport.

Jiu Jitsu Fort Lauderdale Shines in California as Yago Wins Medal

Yago Matias, another remarkable athlete from our team, participated through our community outreach project, Jiu Jitsu for Good. Yago battled through six intense matches to earn a well-deserved third-place medal. His journey exemplifies how Jiu Jitsu can be a force for positive change, providing opportunities and personal growth for individuals from all walks of life.

Pablo, competing in the rooster weight division, also made headlines with his outstanding performance. Not only did he secure a third-place in his division, but he also ventured into the Open Class division. Despite being the lightest competitor there, he showcased immense courage and skill, winning his first match and clinching third place. His initial victory was particularly impressive, as he won with a swift foot lock, highlighting the technical prowess that Jiu Jitsu Fort Lauderdale is known for.

These achievements at the World Championship are a testament to the strength and spirit of our athletes and the supportive environment provided by the Athlas Training Team. We believe in the power of Jiu Jitsu to transform lives, and our results on the global stage prove just that.
